Yamazaki 12 year Single Malt Whiskey by the Suntory Group. Itou bought this bottle for me from Japan. I found out that the one featured in Lost In Translation was actually a 30 year old blend, a far more expensive alternative…I wonder how does a 30 year old whiskey taste like…
This one however is comparative to Johnny Walker’s Green Label. I guess it’s a matter of personal taste, but I like this Yamazaki shit. It’s sweet, honeyish, woody and smooth. This is no inferior whiskey as I presumed it to be. I guess the Japanese can do anything, now I know not all whiskey comes from Scotland and Ireland.
On the rocks is best drunk. I just love whiskey on the rocks, especially when the ice melts and blends in with the spirits. It feels somewhat luxurious, that fiery yet cool liquid streaming down your throat. Talking about it makes me wanna have a glass! I just discovered that ‘Mizuwari’ is a way of drinking whiskey with water and ice. Either way is fine, but please please do not drink whiskey with Coke. It’s disrespectful to both Coke and Suntory or even Johnny Walker.. You gotta leave as it is…and just add ice…

sweeeeeet. i wanna try!
i am sitting at the moment relaxing and drinking a glen garioch 12 year and coke which is very smooth on the pallet i also have bowmore, auchentoshan, dalmore and yamazaki of which i drink all with coke. i think it is totally up to the tastes of the person in question. does it make me less of a person because i prefer them with coke! NO !! as i am paying the same price just enjoying it the way i feel. it is sickening that some people in their mid 30’s – 60’s still suffer from peer pressure….
Yamazaki 12 is clear evidence that Japanese whisky can go head to head with scotch and be just as good!
