This has been a great month! so many releases from the folks i love. after a long hiatus, chitose is back with this lovely ballad. fact is, i just got to listen to it today and it sounded really pleasing to the ear. She has 3 other tracks in this single release. I must admit her version of Love is a many splendor thing (track 2) is horrible, ghastly, excruciating…you get the point. You can’t simply turn any song to an island song -it hurts the poor ear. Oh well, I’m glad she is back with this single.

Here’s another really nice track from the ending theme of Blood+. This track can be found on her Hanadairo ハナダイロ and the Blood+ original music soundtrack. This is yet another splendid song, i like it so much that i started downloading Blood+!! I mean usually it would be the other way round, watch the show, download the music….This song sounds very much like the opening theme song sung by Hitomi Takahashi, Aozora no namida, but slower of course and more Chitose. If you have enjoyed wadatsumi no ki and ao no requiem you will definitely love this, that’s a guarantee. Such grace in her voice this lady..

元ちとせ 青のレクイエム

After listening to wadatsumi no ki, courtesy of KC. I began searching for more of Chitose Hajime’s songs. I managed to get her latest single which was released in 2006 for the movie Hatsukoi starring Aoi Miyazaki. The title is Ao no requiem or ao no rekuiemu, and it is a beautiful song. Beautiful but sad, i was lucky to stumble upon the lyrics and translation through the cherryblossom garden. It’s a song about lost love and how it will never return. Gosh…songs like these really stabs the heart!

But even without understanding the lyrics you can feel that she is singing about something so meaningful and profound that it would surely touch your heart, it did to mine anyways. Perhaps is her style of singing, that village or country style of singing. I guess it has pureness to it, much like the Okinawan style of Rimi Natsukawa. But seriously i’m beginning to enjoy songs such as these.
