This song, in my opinion is one of the best bossa nova song ever. Originally made popular by Ary Barroso in the Disney cartoon by the same name. It literally means ‘watercolours of brasil’. This song is simply about the wonders, cultures and natural beauty of Brasil. I just love this song! It really moves me, and i mean it in a literal sense as well! This version is taken from of his best album and my favourite as well, Amoroso/Brasil. It has beautiful tracks like Gershwin’s s’wonderful, Antonio Carlos Jobim’s Wave and Triste and Estate. The track begins with a nice acoustic guitar played by none other than Gilberto himself. The guitar here is just fantastic! He sings Brasil, meu brasil brasileiro…(brasil my brasil and my brasilians) at the beginning. I love the way he silents the ‘do’ at the end of each line, you know like ‘passa…do…’. This is Gilberto’s style as compared to other versions like Elis Regina and Gal Costa which are livelier and more samba influenced. So this version here is really a cool version and a must have for bossa nova & jazz lovers.
