Muse World Tour 2007. They performed here in Kuala Lumpur at Stadium Negara. Sponsored by Tiger Beer, I was really really hoping that they had beer for sale there. Needless to say that I was disappointed, no beer but many many Tiger banners everywhere. I mean what’s the point? You promote something but you can’t sell something. I don’t blame Tiger though…it’s our government!!! Anyways, we’ll leave that for some other time.
I went there with Sherrie, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have gotten the free tickets. Free tickets aside, we wouldn’t even have the chance to watch this great act live! The show was supposedly scheduled to start at 8.00pm. Like they would be on time?!! We went there pretty early as it was a free sitting ticket, and free sitting way up in the sky. I’m exaggerating a little. It wasn’t too bad as ,how big can stadium Negara be right? We had Ramly Burgers, a standard ‘event’ chow.
We practically watched the stadium fill itself. We waited long…. And finally they came out at about 8.45pm…with a thundering ‘Knights of Cydonia’. Truly rock worthy! The crowd came alive! This fella next to us was truly, immensely enjoying himself! He was jumping up and down, waving his hands here and there…I mean you need folks like this at concerts. If it was a stadium filled with folks like me…then I really feel sorry for the band. I can’t say that I’m a Muse fan as I don’t know half or more of the songs performed last night. However, there are really a lot of hardcore fans of there, right from their ‘Showbiz’ album. Despite not knowing most of the songs in there, after the first listen, they do possess a bunch of really good tunes! I was actually enjoying myself….wished I’d done some homework so I could sing along!! Then I’ll jump higher than the guy next to me. Apparently there are some songs in there last night that were bigger than Starlight. That I gather from the roar of the crowd when a new song is played. ‘Time is running out’ has definitely got to be the best song yesterday for me.
Matthew Bellamy, a truly great performer, talented both at instruments and singing. His vocals were almost faultless, just like listening to the CD minus the audience. And you know you’ll get more passion and soul at concerts…that was exhibited most passionately.
They didn’t talk much though…I think I can remember everything they said…
1. Apa Khabar?
2. Kuala Lumpur!!! (a few times)
3. Terima Kasih!
4. This next song is called Starlight
5. Thanks for the wonderful encore..(or something like that)
6. Thank You and Goodnight!
That’s it…not much of a talker I supposed.
The concert was a great one…I’d see them again even if they were coming down here next month. This time, I’ll be ready to rock and roll !! I’ll leave you with Super Massive BlackHole…
